barn-exteriorwelcome2  North Barn is an 18th century stone building – originally a corn collection point for flat bottom barges to take corn across the river and in the 1940’s used for Bramley apple farrming, grading and storage.

Nowadays North Barn is mostly a ‘one-room-living’ self-catering space – basic but beautiful - and very romantic !  The atmosphere is fresh and light, with skylights that make even the dullest of days seem bright.  The kitchen, dining and sitting areas are all integrated so that the spectacular view can be appreciated from any spot.  Explore the menus to find out more and book.

From the yard there are 4 steps up to the big barn doors.  Inside at the far end, there are 3 steps down to the wooden deck overlooking the river which catches the morning sun and is an ideal place for breakfast with the waters edge only ten yards in front. This deck has fixed seats, table and bench, a perfect spot for viewing the bird life on the tidal estuary - bring your binoculars!   There is a TV with DVD, a radio and CD player, and a record player for you to enjoy our 60’s collection! The dining table seats 4 to 6 and is placed between the green kitchen area and the huge custom built blue dresser.  The low level sleeping platform is also in the main room, so the river can be seen from the bed through the huge windows that form most of the end wall of the barn. The barn is heated by 3 night storage radiators, and a wood burning stove that keep it toasty warm in winter.
